English - Disability Awareness slides

Why should we be mindful of the language we use around disability? How can we show awareness? Slides for L1 and L2 English learners to find out more about the importance of equality while building their English skills.

A combination of texts, images and videos are used to question, and encourage active listening and research skills. There is much discussion about the importance / impact of language and also the use of  disability-themed emojis. For reading, a series of short texts are used to consolidate various comprehension skills such as understanding key/technical vocabulary. For writing, there are prompts for formal persuasive letter writing.
