Radical Banality: an ice breaking card game
Submitted by Karen Duncan on 21 May 2013.
This is a resource for mixed ability groups. It can act as an ice breaker and will help students ot think about word choice and context. It is useful in writing sessions.
This can be played by 4 or more players. If you have more than 8, you may want to print out the “things” cards twice.
Each player gets 5 “things” cards. Players take it in turns to read a phrase with a blank / two blanks in it. The other players try to find the best match from their cards. The person who read the phrase chooses the best answer, in their opinion, and gives the phrase to the person who gave that answer as a trophy.
It is simple, but can be fun.
