Keyboard Confidence: embedded digital skills for ESOL
Submitted by Alexandra Bate… on 13 March 2022.
This is a fun activity which encourages kinaesthetic learning and builds learner confidence in engaging with technology as well as using IT vocabulary. Learners are invited to share their experience of different types of international keyboards and use the interactive white board to annotate a QWERTY keyboard.
Editor's note
Contributed by Carol Samlal & Alexandra Bates, both of Essex ACL. A complete mini-lesson for Entry Level 1 & 2 ESOL learners. A useful lesson plan (teaching nugget) is accompanied by a short PPT which includes images of labelled and unlabelled keyboards along with a list of common Keyboard features. A great way to integrate learning new vocabulary and discussion strategies with basic ICT skills.
