(The method relies on the user knowing his or her “easier times tables” well so is not suitable for the complete times-tables novice. Very clear slides with lots of illustrated examples.

I was prompted to create this set of tasks after seeing a lovely Red Nose event poster in my staff email. Although it focuses on Comic Relief 2011, this resource could easily be adapted for other charity events. Please read the resource to find out how you can obtain an editable Word version.

A multi-functional resource for Literacy or Numeracy. Sample TV listings by day, programme, start and end times, channel and genre. Use for alphabetic or numeric sorting, skimming and scanning exercises, literacy social sight vocabulary for days of the week, numeracy exercises for calculating time, etc. This resource contains some sample exercise questions to use which can be developed further according to need. I laminated the sheets and then cut up into days so lower level learners can move the elements around. Higher level learners can work from the whole page sheets as well.

A lovely hands-on measuring / weighing / extracting data activity (you will need a selection of letters and packets) for Entry 3.

A great way to practice L2 measure and volume skills in a practical problem solving scenario. Ideal (and fully mapped to) L2 Functional Maths.

Christmas Star template was designed to accompany Sarah Horsley’s How to Make a Christmas Star resource (below) and makes the folding and cutting process easier. Ideal when using Sarah’s resource in a family learning situation.

Two task sheets. The first, ‘My Budget’, encourages learners to compare their current budget with what it could be if they were in employment.
The second was used on an ASDAN Unit 3 business planning course and encourages discussion about the costs of self-employment.
