A new series of comprehensive Functional Skills Maths books now available from talented mathematician and teacher Marsida Horeshka who you may already know from her popular Functional Skills maths site https://marscademy.com/(previously known as Maths Made Fun). The three Entry Level books are now available on Amazon (and soon from other booksellers).
An incredible collection of free worksheets from OUP. Designed to support the excellent book ‘Maths the Basics’ by June Haighton et al (see our separate entry about this book) but can be used independently. I haven’t looked at them all ( there are more than a 100 - plus answer sheets!) but they seem to cover Entry Level 3 to Level 2.
In addition there are many other useful downloads including tips and hints for non-specialists on delivering Functional Skills maths, English and ICT and much more.
I’ve only briefly skimmed through but some of these new mastery resources for L1 & L2 Functional Maths (and GCSE resits) look amazing! Includes full 33 hour (22 x 1.5 hr lessons) schemes of work, lesson plans, handouts and slides.
Free "6 Minute Maths" Digital Learning resource! Entry Level to Level 2, no catch revise on your phone or tablet with this free very detailed 4 page PDF.
Are you an Apprentice preparing for a Functional Maths assessment? Are you working on Improving your functional Maths?
Five really comprehensive, free schemes of work - one for each level of reformed Functional Mathematics.
Each document lists the reformed content and suggests the number of GLH (guided learning hours) to devote to each descriptor. The order of teaching is left to the teacher's discretion. Each topic / content descriptor is explored in detail with handy lists of:
Functional Skills text books are a rare commodity and this pair of Level 2 Functional English books fills a well-needed gap. They’ve been written with the Edexcel on-screen reading and writing assessments in mind, but are ideal for learners taking paper-based or online Functional Skills assessments from any awarding body.
Dadsworksheets hosts a myriad of useful maths resources – both onscreen and printables. The Fraction and Percentage calculators are already listed separately.
Skillsheets have some rather nice, completely free, Functional Maths PPTs/PDFs based on driving. (Select 'Functional Skills' and then 'Samples'.)
One is based on data handling and looks to be aimed at L1-2. The other focuses on units and is aimed at E3-L2.
Updated Feb 28, 2022 bad links fixed. This is a marvellous and very practical site full of accessible adult resources that are ideal for teaching maths AND English.
