A simplified adjectives resource that I created to use with E1/E2 learners to introduce them to writing a description of something. Students should be encouraged to provide one describing word each that can be displayed on the whiteboard before discussing the term adjective.

This resource covers what an adjective is with underlining and cloze writing exercises to build knowledge before students attempt to write a description of two pictures. The descriptions of the pictures can be basic but students should be encouraged to use full sentences.

Aimed at E1-E3 learners, this resource can be used to introduce the spellings of days and months at E1 or E2, or as a revision tool at E2 or E3. After finding the names of all 7 days and 12 months in the Wordsearch, where they are presented in upper-case letters, the learner uses the next sheet to write the names in the chart using the correct combination of upper and lower case letters.

A simplified reading about cyclones with reference to the two cyclones in Australia in February 2015 followed by some exercises. The exercises are at different levels to meet the very different abilities of students in my class.

Good for introduction to language of employment. I have used these with E1 to E3 and they work well as a differentiated resource

Higher levels can gauge implict information, especially for the school caretaker advert in writing covering application letters to include attributes such as working with children, being trustworthy and reliable etc)

A fun starter or plenary activity for the Christmas season to revise spelling of cardinal numbers. The worksheet contains a version of the traditional Christmas lyrics with all the cardinal numbers replaced by gaps for students to complete, thus gaining practice in spelling the numbers 1 to 12, as required by Cambridge Progression Entry Level 1 Sentence Unit. Students are then prompted to write the remaining numbers up to 20, as required by Cambridge Progression Entry Level 2 Sentence Unit.

Learners ask each other questions to try to find one name of another learner to fill in each square. First to finish shouts “bingo!”

A quiz to help lower level learners recognise the names of parts of the body. The quiz can be done individually or in small teams; The names of body parts are on cards for each player/team. The tutor reads out clues to a part of the body. The learners choose the correct body part from their cards. There are three clues for each part. The players score for each correct answer: The highest points are for guessing after one clue and the lowest points for guessing only after all three clues.
This can be a reading, writing, online multiple choice or interactive whiteboard activity.
