Checklist designed to support delivery of Gateway's EDSQ (Essential Digital Skills Qualification) E3 and L1. This list allows learners, and staff, to rate their confidence with each element of the qualification at each unit (1-5).

A complete mini-lesson for ESOL or Functional English! Introductory PPT and a detailed and very useful lesson plan. A great way to integrate spelling strategies with basic ICT skills. Includes discussion about the 26 letters but 44 phonemes of the English language. 

A very useful handout for Entry Level ESOL and/or Functional Skills ICT students. Step by step, illustrated instructions on how to create a basic PPT.

The basic PPT used in the handout images is also provided. This can be adapted by the teacher or (optionally) given to learners to adapt. 

This resource covers what is expected at the Entry 1 ICT Functional Skills exam. It follows the structure of an exam paper.  An E2 version is also available.

I based in it on a Skillsworkshop English resource by Isabel Jordan.

I have created a paper based initial assessment for ICT to identify if students should be working towards Level 1 or Level 2.

Used in OCR Level 1 Business Skills and Level 1 word processing courses. Improve students understanding of basic computer file structure and practise creating files and saving into specific folders.

First used with a group of E1-E2 numeracy students who had done an ICT based project involving cookery work and visiting a cafe to buy a snack. Print on A4 and fold into a very nice A5 leaflet.
The self assessment check boxes focus on basic money skills (recognising coins, giving change – but also slecting items from a list, weighing, etc.) but there is also the opportunity to link learning to numeracy at home or at college. Ideal for Entry Functional maths / catering / hospitality students.

A demonstration of how not to make a PowerPoint. This has been used for all levels as an extreme example of the worst PowerPoint ever.

Lovely classroom display that will help learners define and understand the function of 20 common Excel toolbar buttons.

Set of interactive and paper based activities based on buying and describing clothes. The on-screen activities (match words and pictures, drag and drop sentences, cloze activitiy, crossword) make a good group activity on an interactive whiteboard and can be extended and consolidated using the dialogue prompts, vocabulary cards and other activities in the PDF document.
