Label the House is a beautiful labelling (or cut and stick) activity for preEntry-Entry 1 Lit and ESOL. Also makes a great starting point for preEntry discussion about words, images, names of familiar objects etc.
Editor’s note Oct 2013
Thumbnail picture added to description above and minor edits to the original 2008 resource including: font change; removal of an extra, unneeded labelling box; and adjustment to one labelling arrow pointing to the letterbox.

A super, complete E2-E3 lesson plan (and resources) originally written for e2e students looking at healthy eating, but great for any group. The lesson plan pays particular attention to equality and diversity.
Includes detailed plan, quiz answer sheet, illustrated fill-in tables and adjective ideas. You will need a selection of exotic fruit and also, if following the entire lesson plan, our Describing Foods resource (see below).
A superb set of multi-sensory activities based on a card sort designed to increase awareness and use of this well known spelling rule (and its exceptions!). Great for paired or small group work.
An accompanying Eclipse crossword is also available (see below) from the same author.
Aa cut and stick or matching activity first used with New Deal students (laminate for re-use). Makes a good start up activity or prompt for discussion and form filling practice.
A great hands-on fill-in activity where learners are asked to inspect a range of leaflets and note down emotive language, textual features, images, etc.
Indefinite article exercise is ideal for ESOL beginners and also makes a good introduction to recognising vowels and consonants. Cut and stick or write in the correct article.
