A task sheet for L1 Functional Skills ICT. It focuses on Task 3 of the Edexcel exam paper which involves being creative and producing a document that uses clear presentation features and is fit for purpose.
Includes two tasks (a restaurant menu and a flyer for a student production) plus a short extension.

This is a resource that was designed for use in a computer classroom. It allows learners to research what is needed in a cover letter to find employment. For this resource to work most successfully I would advise that learners carry out the ‘research’ stage (Tasks 1 & 2) of the lesson in pairs or small groups.

An E3-L1 Functional Maths, English and ICT task first used with learners at Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme. Plan and cost a restaurant meal for 20 officials (originally held at Frank and Benny’s, Chingford, but you will need to provide menus from a favourite local restaurant or chain) and then present your results in a spreadsheet..

An interesting worksheet that covers both literacy and numeracy. Best used with an interactive food label on the UK Government Eatwell site but the questions can also be answered using the provided printout.
Covers reading comprehension (scanning), extracting information from tables, using decimals and place value.

Selecting, highlighting and formatting practice – 4 different documents (of varying complexity). A poem about cats; a restaurant menu; information about dogs, cats and trees! (some are also suitable for reading & comprehension work). Two include formatting instructions, others are to be reproduced as closely as possible to practice advanced formatting skills.
