Problem Page is a great way to encourage paired reading, writing and discussion skills. Students discuss a typical problem from a tabloid newspaper page and then, in pairs, work on different problems and how they would solve them. For Entry 3, L1/2 ESOL and Literacy.

A substantial resource designed to encourage students to tackle large projects in bite sized pieces. Originally used with E2E learners but suitable for all age groups. Aimed at E3- L1, it covers many literacy and numeracy topics and also requires some IT and research skills. Also used for L1 Key Skills IT portfolios and would now (2010) make an ideal Functional Skills project.

Useful card game for consolidation and revision. Students must describe the features, layout and style of different texts.

An unpunctuated text. Students must add capital letters, commas, full stops and apostrophes so that it makes sense.

A work / help sheet for dyslexic learners who have difficulty distinguishing between these two letters. Underline the letters, read the words and write sentences.
