## Excel literacy curriculum progress charts

6 Excel charts showing all the curriculum indicators in any particular level: pre-Entry (Milestone 1- Milestone 8 in one sheet), and one sheet each for E1, E2, E3, L1, L2.

Each chart provides, on one page, a quick, visual record of progress and achievement and is particularly useful in forming and updating individual learning plans. They can be kept in students’ basic skills folders and used to set targets and track progress.

## Weight Lotto

## Smarties investigation (the original!)

One of our most endearing and popular resources. This excellent investigation for mixed ability groups has inspired many other Skillsworkshop contributors to create related Smartie resources (see below for just a small selection). Covers almost all data handling curriculum elements from Entry 1 to Level 1 along with other elements from N1 (whole numbers) and Measure. Topics covered include counting, estimating, addition, sorting, tallies, bar charts, mean, range and more.

## Christmas parcels, cards and presents

Great series of differentiated assignments (2 each at Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1) using the Royal Mail web site or leaflets (last posting dates, parcel prices) for the postage assignments, and an Argos (or similar) catalogue for the Christmas present assignment. Topics covered include reading tables, weighing, working with decimals and money, using calculators.
