The Astronaut

A short poem on the theme of jobs and careers.  Can be used as a reading and pronunciation exercise or may be extended to include a discussion around jobs, ambitions and qualifications.  Can also be used as a basis for written work.

After struggling to find poems at an appropriate level, Jean wrote this (and several others that are equally good/useful!) for a shared reading group where poems are read aloud and used to prompt discussion of common ESOL topics such as shopping and jobs.
