This resource includes an outdated reference to the minimum wage. Thanks to Janet Wilkins for pointing this out. I have not altered it in the resource but remember you can obtain editable Word versions of resources by uploading your own contributions to share.

According to UK Directgov the current (June 2011) rates are:

  • £5.93 – the main rate for workers aged 21 and over
  • £4.92 – the 18-20 rate
  • £3.64 – the 16-17 rate for workers above school leaving age but under 18
  • £2.50 – the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship

The hourly rates will increase from Oct 1st 2011 to:

  • Aged 21 and over – £6.08
  • 18-20 – £4.98
  • 16-17 – £3.68
  • Apprentice rate – £2.60
