Start of term quiz or diagnostic exercises (or use simply to get learners into the swing of things!) includes a wide range of questions covering number, measures and data handling.
Two versions – one for E1-E3, one for L1-2.

diagnostic exercises
I used the Entry level exercise yesterday with a new group of learners who are working towards Level 1 ALAN. It was accessible for them all and gave them lots of confidence in their ability. My students are mostly young parents who have a fear of maths in any context. I gave them the option of trying the L1,2 paper and many of them surprised themselves with their results. These are really useful tools for initial assessment.
