Museum trip - E3 practice literacy assignment

A fabulous City and Guilds style E3 literacy assignment that covers all aspects of E3 speaking and listening, reading and writing (see Editor’s note below). Based on a real trip to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford it is written in a generic style and could be any local museum / art gallery.

The real-life, practical nature of the tasks makes them equally suitable for Functional Skills English practice. They include: reading an information leaflet, listening to a recorded message about the museum (separate transcript provided below), alphabetical order and dictionary task (famous artists), discussion and questioning, and planning / writing a description or a letter.

A separate assessment / mark sheet is also provided.

Editor’s note (July 2021)

Originally written for adult literacy exams, just before the advent of Functional Skills (FS) in 2011, this resource still provides very useful Entry Level 3 practice. For now, I have decided not to remap it to Reformed FS because it comes as such a neat, complete package. So, please bear in mind that it may not cover all the current Entry Level 3 Reformed FS subject content that was introduced in September 2019.
