Living in the UK - Ask for Angela
A set of activities based on the Ask for Angela scheme, an important initiative set up with the aim of keeping people in social situations safe.
The tasks include reading comprehension, SPaG and writing tasks, along with research and discussion opportunities. Planning should be encouraged as part of the writing tasks. There's also a separate task on organisational and presentational features using two Ask for Angela posters.
There is an additional simplified Entry Level version of the main reading text, but the questions and writing tasks are aimed at L1-L2. The resources can be used as a whole or split into separate units, as required. Teachers and tutors may use them as they see fit depending on learners and their needs.
Editor's notes
Written for ESOL but most questions are also suitable for Functional Skills English. Another great addition to Colleen's very popular Living in the UK series. Teachers could easily compile their own questions for the Entry Level text.
