How to find Essential Digital Skills resources

We are now ready to accept Essential Digital Skills (EDS) resources.  To find EDS select the orange ICT tab and then Essential Digital Skills from the Subject Area filter - or follow this link .

The new National Standards for Essential Digital Skills were published in 2019, for first teaching in August 2020. They will completely replace the old Functional Skills ICT qualifications from August 2023.

There are two *main levels:

  1. Entry Level - designed for adults with no or little prior experience of using digital devices or the internet. Note that, unlike Functional Skills English and Maths, this is a single level encompassing skills from all three of the Entry sub-levels. I.e. E1, E2 and E3).
  2. Level 1 - designed for adults with some experience of using digital devices and the internet but lacking secure basic digital skills.

* There is also a Foundation Level (classed as pre-Entry) for adults needing extra support when handling digital devices  for the first time.
