Adult Numeracy, Functional Maths, and GCSE Resources

Displaying 201 - 210 of 837 resources:

This is a good starter activity to introduce measures, shape and space. It is also useful in dividing classes into small groups.

Using the templates I created I printed them on to card of different colours. I gave the shapes to the learners as they entered the room and told them to find the table with the same shape on it. When they reached the table they found the shape and some questions to answer.

After five minutes I asked for feedback from the learners.

I made this resource to check prior learning of a group I took over from another lecturer. It could work well for assessment, revision or as an extension task.

My L1 learners were really struggling to remember what to do to convert units of measurement and were getting very confused at the initial stage, so I made this resource and laminated it so that it was available for them to look at if they couldn’t remember. Could also be made into a poster.

A resource I created to support my students getting used to what they needed to divide or multiply by to convert between units. Can easily be laminated for repeated use, or increased in size and turned in to a poster.

Addition and subtraction task I use in induction sessions with Entry level construction students.
Students need to use the code to work out the ‘value’ of each word. They can then use the answers for the second page.
Normally I give out the first page and use the second as an extension task.

A data chart of average monthly high and low temperatures for a selection of world cities is used to answer functional maths questions.

Skills tested include accuracy of reading data, ordering positive and negative numbers, calculating the mean and range of data including negative numbers.

There is a tricky anagram to finish off the worksheet, which will appeal to some leaners who like puzzles and wordskills.

The chart could be used separately and many other questions devised from the information it contains.
