A short workbook I created to 'test the maths water' before teaching maths to a group of adult and young ESOL learners. It covers almost everything in the Entry Level 1 curriculum with exam style tasks/ questions linked to C&G Functional Skills Maths assessments.
I usually use it with groups as a gentle introduction to the idea of maths and it forms a good diagnostic for the things they need to learn. It also lets me see how motivated they are to study maths!

All cleverly based on the accompanying text about Led Zeppelin: ‘I come from Ice and Snow’, Led Zeppelin 1970. Written as revision material for L2 Access to Music students but suitable for any learners with an interest in music.

A 40 question practice paper written to provide challenging extra practice after a group of learners participated in a very difficult L2 numeracy test (the levels of the national test certainly do seem to be erratic at times, and definitely harder than when it was first introduced).
Unlike the national test, the questions in this test are not multiple choice – making it equally suitable for initial assessment, homework or revision. All areas of the curriculum are covered (i.e. number, measures and data handling). An answer sheet is included.
A great set of topical questions covering whole numbers, rounding, ratios, fractions, percentages, volume, converting currency and data handling. There is a particular emphasis on working with large numbers. Provides useful revision at any time of year.
40 questions but these are not multiple choice. There is plenty of space for showing working-out and it is fully mapped to L1-2 Functional Maths.
Boxes is a very useful hands-on diagnostic assessment activity ideal for the start of term. Covers many aspects of Measure Shape and Space including estimatiung, measuring, rounding, area and volume. With ideas for L1-2 extension. Also suitable for underpinning Functional Maths.
