# Adult Numeracy, Functional Maths, and GCSE Resources

**67 resources**:

An updated version of 'Numeracy during the Summer' by Judith White (2006).

Numeracy during the summer. Keep your students’ skills going during the summer break with these ideas. One page for Entry Level learners, one for Levels 1/2.

Covers number, measures, shape and space, and data.

Functional Skills level 1. Revision booklet for area and perimeter. Covers rectangles and compound shapes made up of rectangles.

**Editor's note**

A very useful set of questions with guidance. Lots of underpinning practice is followed by problem solving. Ideal for non-calculator work. **Note there is no answer sheet.**

11.50 28.1.20 - file updated. (Minor typo page 4, missing 'camel' key page 7)

Detailed revision guide for Reformed Functional Maths. Split into sections Number, Measures Shape and Space, Handling Data

Table format with topic on left-hand side and an example on the right.

**Editor's note**

Really useful guide covering almost every Level 1 content criterion. Written for Edexcel-Pearson candidates but suitable for all.

A PowerPoint set of L1-L2 reading, maths and writing tasks. All are based on information a recent UK.gov Home Office fact sheet about Prevent and Channel*. The fact sheet can be found online or downloaded from this page. Main Functional Maths coverage is reading and comparing whole numbers and percentages, and percentage-fraction equivalents. Some questions involve calculating percentages or checking the figures that are quoted in the text (Level 2).

**Editor's notes**

This is a resource I've designed to be a homework/classwork support for L1 Functional Skills maths (reform).

**Editor's notes**

A wonderful 104-page compilation of resources covering almost every aspect of Level 1 Reformed Functional Maths. With curriculum mapping and links to further resources. **Note this project includes resources from many excellent free web sites** - please read the notes on the front cover sheet and page 104 for further information.

This revision aid for L1/L2 (mainly L2) Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills maths gives a side-by-side comparison of perimeter, area and volume, the sort of units that would be involved with each and a worked Functional Skills example of each with a PAV mnemonic for remembering which is which. I have also looked through the last few years of Pearson Edexcel FS for the sorts of questions that require each one.

**Editor's note**

This is a handout for Functional Skills L1/L2 which talks about formulas, substitution and BODMAS (BIDMAS).

“Editor’s note*

It includes worked examples from past papers and useful tips and hints. Fully mapped to L2 FM and GCSE Maths 1-5

A reading comprehension based on the BBC news website with related writing activities, one at E3 (informal letter) and one at L1-L2 (email).

**Editor’s note**

There is also some maths thrown in for good measure! A great resource for the start of (spring) term.

A Bonfire Night themed resource covering some aspects of literacy and numeracy.

The resource contains a basic reading comprehension about the History of Bonfire Night. This is followed by a numeracy activity where students have to buy fireworks for a display with a budget of £300. The final activity is a writing task and learners have to create a poster advertising the event.

I created this for an ILS (independent life skills) class but it could be used with Entry Functional Skills learners too.

A short cloze exercise on the Olympic Opening Ceremony based on numbers (E2-L1), plus a writing activity at 2 levels (E2-3 and L1-L2).

**Editor’s note**

The cloze is also a clever way of embedding some maths (large numbers).
