AN N1/L1.7

Work out simple ratio and direct proportion. (a) understand simple ratio as the number of parts i.e. three parts to one part (b) understand direct proportion as the same rate of increase or decrease, e.g. double, half (c) understand the relationship between simple ratio and fractions

A great way to practise ratio and proportion. Choose your favourite horse and how much to bet ( we suggest Haribo or buttons!). If it wins the race you must work out how much the bookie owes you. With sample lesson plan.

A wonderful way to introduce ratio and proportion (also covers converting measures). Chose your favourites from the ‘menu’; work out ratios for the ingredients and calculate amounts required for multiples such as 6, 10 and 20 drinks; and make up your own cocktails.
