Scan different parts of texts to locate information (i) Understand that it is not always necessary to read every word, or every word in a relevant section, to find information in a text (ii) Have a clear purpose in mind before starting to scan (iii) Develop strategies for extracting information from various parts of text, e.g. scan headings and sub-headings because they give clues to content, scan for proper nouns, or type in a key word to search online
