Lovely topical set of maths questions based on mostly interesting Wimbledon statistics (men and women’s singles winners, ticket prices and strawberry sales). There’s also a set of questions based on the dimensions of a tennis court. The questions cover number, measures and data handling from E2 to L2; the majority of questions would be suit E3-L1. Many questions involve problem solving, ask the students to give reasons or thoughts, etc. thus making it very suitable for underpinning Functional Maths.
A substantial set of resources for BTEC Sport students. Based on a Functional English lesson given on Sport Relief day (but suitable for any time of year as it is based on the Back Up charity for spinal cord injuries – not Sport Relief). Includes
A topical reading exercise aimed at Entry 2 but would suit mixed ability groups from E1-E3. Based on a simplified text about the history of the Olympic Games.
Includes general comprehension and true/false questions; a ‘missing vowels’ exercise and alphabetical ordering. Fully mapped to the E2 Functional English criteria and the adult literacy curriculum.
This uses the Olympic games 2012 as a focus. The main emphasis is maths / numeracy but ICT and English reading skills are also covered.
[img_assist|nid=4367|title=|desc=|link=popup|align=left|width=70|height=100]Learners will read dates by looking at a calendar and marking on when the Olympics start and finish (including the Paralympics), read times that the football events start and finish and put these on a clockface, and read prices of tickets of a match that they choose. There are also questions on shapes, number, money and doubling.

I created this resource as practice in data handling for a Level 1 Functional Maths group and it covers skills from Entry 3 to Level 2. It includes creating tallies and charts, using a distance chart, calculating average and range, and working with money. It is fully mapped to the Functional Maths criteria and includes an answer sheet.
My students are 16-18, and have a limited knowledge of geography, so I included an outline map of the UK (not included in the resource) and got them to use a road map to find and mark the cities and towns that are on the distance chart.
A great PPT quiz – the emphasis in on maths (questions on number of matches played, groups etc.) but it also includes general knowledge questions. All question can be easily adapted if they are too easy / difficult.
