Checklist designed to support delivery of Gateway's EDSQ (Essential Digital Skills Qualification) E3 and L1. This list allows learners, and staff, to rate their confidence with each element of the qualification at each unit (1-5).

An essential piece of kit for those embarking on EDS teaching. Love the 4 tier "traffic light" system. Written for Gateway but useful for all awarding bodies.

Slides designed to support delivery of Gateway's EDSQ (Essential Digital Skills Qualification), Unit 5 (Being Safe and Responsible Online) at Entry Level 3 and Level 1, with embedded Functional Skills English activities at L1 and L2. This set of slides includes skills from sections 3 (Communication) .  The slides cover: how to report safety concerns, public Wi-Fi, Health and Safety and other online risks. Also many useful links to YouTube videos and other online learning applications. 

A demonstration of how not to make a PowerPoint. This has been used for all levels as an extreme example of the worst PowerPoint ever.

Lovely classroom display that will help learners define and understand the function of 20 common Excel toolbar buttons.

Set of interactive and paper based activities based on buying and describing clothes. The on-screen activities (match words and pictures, drag and drop sentences, cloze activitiy, crossword) make a good group activity on an interactive whiteboard and can be extended and consolidated using the dialogue prompts, vocabulary cards and other activities in the PDF document.

Useful handout that clearly explains the principles of backing up files. Includes information on hardware, software and how to back up data.

How to use Hot Potatoes to make a crossword – is an ideal embedded literacy exercise for ICT classes (or embedded ICT for literacy!) with step by step illustrated help for using this popular freeware program to create web based word puzzles.
Karen has also provided two sample crosswords to show learners the type of puzzle they can quickly produce. Puzzle A is on parts of speech, puzzle B is on punctuation marks. (See below)
