Nationally produced embedded learning resources
Editor’s note
Many of these print based vocational resources have now disappeared. However about a dozen have been transferred to the ESOL section of the Excellence Gateway (see main link below).
30+ vocational areas were originally covered but I can only find the topics listed here in bold: horticulture, social care, family health, early years, cleaning, food hygiene, trowel occupations, communication for international nurses, E2E (Entry to Employment), retail, catering, hospitality, hairdressing, warehousing, construction, painting operations, production line manufacturing, cross sector skills (health and safety, food hygiene, first aid, ICT), transport and sports leadership. Each includes contextualised maths & English worksheets, example texts and teaching ideas for each vocational area.
The printable “Skilled for Health” materials address people’s needs for a better understanding and improvement of their health. More than 50 topics are covered including: giving up smoking, mental well-being, immunisation, taking temperatures, talking to your doctor, etc. Again, sadly they have disappeared from the Excellence Gateway but you can find some of them on the CHL (Community Health Literacy ) Foundation page.
