Written for ESOL students with good basic numeracy skills who were taking the test without attending numeracy classes. However these notes are brilliant for any Level 2 numeracy student (who should also refer to the Level 1 notes – see below).

Short quiz provides useful on-screen practice in recognising adverbs (and reading instructions). You can also print a separate copy of the recipe for reading practice, a paper based activity (or to cook it!).

To run the quiz unzip the files (select “Extract all files”) into a new folder and click on l1adverbhotpot. Do not try to run directly from the zip folder or you will not see all the graphics and links.

A cheerful set of gap-fill sentences with picture prompts. Followed by a set of more challenging sentences. The pictures can also be used for speaking practice. This resource complements Amanda’s pronoun comprehension (see below). Although written for ESOL students the sentences also make good reading / Dolch spelling practice for E1 literacy.

Students must answer the comprehension questions and then re-write each text, substituting the correct noun for each pronoun. Although written for ESOL students the texts also make ideal reading practice for Entry 2 literacy.
