Also ideal for prompting a Level 1 or 2 Functional English discussion.
I first used this was used as practice for the written and spoken part of Functional Skills exams.
Learners need to begin by discussing TV shows and hopefully someone will mention Big Brother. Then they have to write about 150 words about what sort of housemate they would be in the house.
Next they have to read through the 20 housemate descriptions and choose 10 of them to join them. This needs to be a team decision.

Tasks focus on general comprehension and vocabulary but there’s also an interesting task on abbreviations and symbols, and a short writing task. There is also an answer sheet and a useful links to online videos that can be used to introduce or expand the task.
A beautifully prepared E3-L1 literacy workbook. Produced to be used during Black History month (October) at Bolton College but can be used at any time. The main text is derived from Kwesi Bacchra’s review of “Claudia Jones, a life in exile” by Marika Sherwood.
