Flash cards

Cards (often double sided) for learning key words, spellings, vocabulary or other facts such as times tables.

Can be cut up into flashcards and used as a quiz.   Number the back of them and laminate. Place face down on a table, Each team or individual must collect a card, answer it and then place it back on the table for others to use.

Print off as a whole and let learners work individually through questions.

I have had feedback from people using the Big Brother PDF discussion worksheet (see link below – under see also) but without any pictures! The fun part of the session (and for it to really work) is to show the students the people they have chosen: this generates plenty of discussion about prejudice and stereotyping. So, here are the 20 pictures to match to each description given in the earlier resource. (You should feel free to edit and adapt according to the demographics / prejudices / preconceptions of own students).

Root word family cards are two sets of flash cards that can be used to visualise the concept of root words to entry level and L1 students.

The entry level cards contain a number of root words and their word families, with a picture representation of each word. The level one sheet contains a higher level of vocabulary and the pictures have been removed.
