Practice with multiplying decimals / money – cunningly disguised as an everyday problem! Great for all level 1 students – especially teenagers. It also involves compiling results into a table.

Aimed at E3- L1, it covers many literacy and numeracy topics and also requires some IT and research skills. Also used for L1 Key Skills IT portfolios and would now (2010) make an ideal Functional Skills project.

Planning a Journey. Research and plan a journey for Wales to Italy. Structured, with fill-in boxes for destinations, mode of transport, cost, etc. Covers many areas of the E3 – L1 literacy & numeracy curricula. Inc: money, timetables, calendars, extracting information, reading strategies.
Written for learners on the autistic spectrum (who often find it particularly difficult to infer meaning that is not explicitly stated) but suitable for many literacy and/or numeracy students.

Entry 3 revision sheet (addition and subtraction of whole numbers and money)originally designed for a group of dyslexic maths learners, but useful for all Entry 3 students. The focus is on number skills along with language and spelling. Students are encouraged to use a code to show how much help (if any) they need with each question so they can see which skills they need to practise.
