(a) Understand that you do not have to start at the beginning of a list or dictionary
(b) Use the initial letter to locate the starting point quickly
This resource is useful for lessons relating to sports and diversity. It includes reading comprehension, alphabetical ordering, reading simple instructions, using a map/key, and a short writing task.

Generic resources for literacy, numeracy and beyond
The resources have been designed to complement the alphabetical ordering component of the E2 and E3 adult literacy exams. There are are four printable worksheets suitable for levels E2-E3. Two worksheets have also been adapted as PPT slides which include audio files so that the jobs and instructions can be heard as well as read.
A topical reading exercise aimed at Entry 2 but would suit mixed ability groups from E1-E3. Based on a simplified text about the history of the Olympic Games.
Includes general comprehension and true/false questions; a ‘missing vowels’ exercise and alphabetical ordering. Fully mapped to the E2 Functional English criteria and the adult literacy curriculum.
Based loosely on C&G E3 literacy exam papers, this covers many of the criteria through a seasonal topic.
