Study skills at all levels (from Entry Level students to teachers on high level CPD courses). Help with spelling, grammar, essay writing, planning (including using graphic organisers and mind maps), organisation and much more.
Fantastic examples of every imaginable type of mind map, grid, matrix and flow chart. Most are created with Inspiration (see our separate link in the Assistive Software section). Each example comes with detailed ideas of when it can best be used, how to draw it, links to free applications and software, etc.).
University of West of England in Bristol has masses of study skills resources. These include useful writing, reading, research and maths handouts and some very good background on the Kolb cycle.
Teacher Vision is a paying site but has some good areas where you can glean ideas. Great graphic organiser section with 40 organisers (all subjects – small screen shots can be seen): stories, conflict, prediction, cause & effect, vocabulary, antonyms, etc.
University of Hull Study Advice Services has some brilliant help sheets on study skills such as critical reading & writing, referencing, and reflective writing.
Also ideal for tutors studying advanced CPD courses who need to boost their writing skills, mathematics, etc.
