| distinguish between similar-sounding phonemes, to make meaning clear |
thirty and thirteen | In a context of interest to the learners – e.g. cooking – learners practise minimal pair words (e.g. chop/shop, cup/cub, chip/ship) drawn from a recipe or a discussion on cooking from different countries. Learners listen and choose which of the two words is being said, circling one of the two. Learners listen again to the same words said in sentences, and identify which word is being said. |
