ESOL Rs/E2.1a

Use grammatical structures that link clauses and help identify sequence
(i) Recognise how discourse markers and conjunctions in instructions and directions, such as first, then, next and finally help identify sequence and show how the different steps link together
(ii) Recognise conjunctions that introduce clauses of time, such as before, after, when, until
(iii) Recognise and understand simple prepositional phrases of time and place.E.g. By Monday... In the end,...

This is a ‘prepositions of place’ resource I use with my 16-19 (and adult!) ESOL learners before Christmas. It’s basically an Easter egg hunt but with Christmas presents instead of eggs.

The number of presents and lines can be tailored to the class. I’ve used this with E1/E2 ESOL groups, although there may be a use for Numeracy and Literacy. It’s a fun, lively activity which I hope you find useful.
