A rigorous and fully mapped reading assessment with mark sheet and detailed answers. This resource takes account of the changes demanded since Ofqual published its thematic review of Functional Skills in January 2015. Can also of course be used for normal classwork, revision, homework or private study. Ideal for Pancake day but could be used any time of year.

Based on three topical texts: one is about pancake events in London, the second is about “Fixing the date of Easter” and the third is a food blog with a recipe for vegan / gluten-free pancakes. 21 questions fully cover all the Level 2 Functional English criteria, with a particular emphasis on presentation of text and language features.

A simplified Entry 3 Version based on one text only is also available, as is a Level 1 version based on one of the texts here and another, different text.

The detailed mark /answer sheet is only available to site contributors. Please see details within the resource.
