Just in case you’ve missed them: we have two Functional English / Literacy resources based on the popular TV programme that starts tomorrow night. Jodie Travis’s Hired or Fired has been on the site since 2006 but is still as relevant today.

Major update June 2021 Wimbledon is a text for E2-3 with comprehension, dictionary and sentence-writing questions followed by alphabetical ordering work on the men’s/women’s top seeds. Now with 2021 lists of seeds, new questions and Reformed Functional Skills English mapping.

Burns Night is celebrated every year on January 25 in Scotland and across the globe. Learn more about Robert Burns and the history of Burns Night, whilst consolidating many aspects of Functional English reading.

Worksheets to practise zero, first and second conditionals while using the language of social media. Can be used as an introduction to conditionals or a revision exercise. Then a reading text using conditionals in context of a social media site to practise reading comprehension, purpose, tone, features of text and dictionary skills.
