Resource type: Worksheet or assignment

Addition and subtraction task I use in induction sessions with Entry level construction students.
Students need to use the code to work out the ‘value’ of each word. They can then use the answers for the second page.
Normally I give out the first page and use the second as an extension task.

Really helps learners make sense of problem solving and decide which operation to use. Includes a review of vocabulary, gap fill exercises and 11 practical problems that have to be cut out, sorted and solved. Mostly single step problems with 2-digit numbers.
