Adult Literacy Core Curriculum (DfES 2001) > Speaking and Listening (SL)

Speaking and listening is split into three skills sections. Click on links below for more information and to find relevant resources. 

Listen and Respond SLlr (includes listening for gist, listening for detail, clarifying and confirming, responding)

Speak to communicate Slc (includes speaking clearly and appropriately, making requests and asking questions, presenting information)

Engage in discussion SLd (includes following and contributing, using appropriate language and strategies) 

A great Entry Level ice-breaker or warm-up activity. Students must circulate and question other class members in order to complete the bingo grid. Also provides a good lead in to sentence work. Covers many speaking and listening elements (asking and answering questions, giving personal information, etc.).
