Just a few comments and suggested literacy level/s are given for each mystery link. You may well disagree!

Resource link A generic practice material from the DfES Embedded Learning Portal designed to be used alongside the printable embedded materials on the same site. (These currently cover: horticulture, family health, trowel occupations, effective communication for international nurses, social care). Free paper-based copies (which include a CD with all the interactive practice materials, plus dozens of useful audio files) are available from the DfES - contact DfES Publications on 0845 60 222 60, dfes@prolog.uk.com. Entry level 2 - read and understand words on forms related to personal information. Curriculum link Rw/E2.1. Comments - clear audio, good layout, I like the talking glossary / dictionary! Learning Styles - V, A (if used as a group presentation), also K if students use individually.
Resource link B more generic material from the DfES Embedded Learning Portal (above for details). Level 2 - using correct punctuation including  apostrophes, commas and inverted commas. Curriculum link Ws/L2.4. Comments -  a nice short snippet that would fit well into any level 1 or 2 subject which requires essay or assignment writing. I like the speaker's accent! Learning Styles - V, A (as a group presentation), also K if students use individually.
Resource link C yet more generic material from the DfES Embedded Learning Portal (above for details). pre-Entry Milestone 7 - distinguish between print, text, symbols and images. Curriculum link  Rtc/M7.1 Comments - wonderful for stimulating discussion when displayed on a large screen to a small group of learners (or even better on an interactive whiteboard / touch screen where non-mouse users can participate). Again, I like the accent (same as in Resource B) - sounds really friendly and would appeal to learners at this level. Learning Styles - V, A (if used as a group presentation), also K if students use individually.
Resource link D from BBC Skillswise site - which is aimed exclusively at Level 1 learners (literacy and numeracy). This site is massive and new resources are added almost every week. Many activities are suitable for 16-19 year olds. There are games, quizzes and other interactive activities along with hundreds of printable worksheets and fact sheets. Level 1 -  Listen for and understand explanations, instructions and narratives on different topics in a range of contexts. Curriculum link SLlr/L1.2 Comments - until recently speaking and listening has been almost totally disregarded (despite being in the Literacy curriculum since 2001) so it's great to see some resources appearing in this area. The tie-in with BBC Casualty gives it added appeal. Learning Styles - V, and especially A (if used as a group presentation), also K if students use individually.
Resource link E an example of an easily made interactive Word document, created by a tutor who then contributed it to the Adult Basic Skills Resource Centre. Comments - Word can be used to make really useful interactive worksheets using drop down boxes or drag and drop. Entry 2 - use phonic and graphic knowledge to decode words. Curriculum link Rw/E2.3. Learning Styles - V and K.
Resource link F from the Adult Basic Skills Resource Centre. Comments - I first designed this cloze for a small group of Milestone 8 - Entry 1 learners and used it in conjunction with the Skills for Life learner materials (which provided the Pickles finds the World Cup story) published in 2003. These materials are also available (free) in printed form (with useful audio CDs and copious teaching notes) for all five levels of Literacy, Numeracy & ESOL - see DfES contact above. Entry 1 - read short narratives. Curriculum link Rt/E1.1 or visit the Entry 1 reading area of my site for further related resources. Learning Styles - V and K.
Resource link G 'Signs, signals and labels' is just one small example of a PDF printable resource from the new Embedded Learning Portal . This example comes from  'Trowel Occupations' and focuses on health and safety signs. Aimed at Entry 3 and Level 1 (a variety of curriculum link including 'relating images to print' Rt/E3.9 and 'purpose of text' Rt/L1.2). See above for details of free printed versions with audio CDS. Comment - the embedded learning resources are great, they include some really good source materials such as health and safety texts, gardening texts (under Horticulture) that I have used successfully in discrete basic skills. Most are aimed at Entry 3 - level 1 but the Family Health modules also include some great resources for Milestone 8 and Entry 1. Available as PDFs and also Word docs (good for copying, pasting and modifying). Learning Styles - V (but also A as some activities have accompanying audio on CD - for example, an audio description of an incident that is used to to complete an accident report form).
Resource link I 'Writing paragraphs' from the BBC Skillswise site (read more here). Great for group writing on a large screen. Comments - I have used this resource very successfully in Level 1 literacy for work on paragraphs, layout and language of newspapers, speech marks, alliteration, etc. The learning group all contributed ideas, vocabulary and felt unhindered as I was doing the typing for them. This involved much editing and re-typing as the group discussed exactly what they wanted me to write. Modelling the writing process is great as students can see that no one dashes off a perfect piece of writing first time - it needs planning, discussion, editing and proof reading. Click picture left, to see our report. Main curriculum link Wt/L1.3 (present information in a logical sequence, using paragraphs where appropriate). Learning Styles - V and K (if done individually) also A (if used for group work as described here).
Resource link J 'Healthy living' is just one module from the Level 2 Literacy Skills for Life Learner materials (written in 2003, for teaching discrete basic skills). These materials (written for all five levels of Literacy, numeracy and ESOL) also available as FREE paper-based copies (which include CDs with many useful listening and speaking materials) are available from the DfES - contact DfES Publications on 0845 60 222 60, dfes@prolog.uk.com. Learning Styles - vary throughout module which is 20 pages long. Comments - Although written for discrete basic skills this module covers a whole range of Level 2 skills, important across all disciplines, including: summarising information, research skills, using the internet and library, writing a project.
The answers to the questions about the Adult Basic Skills Resource Centre are:

L. Find the download page for Level 1 literacy resources. Write down the title of a spelling resource that has been contributed by a site user and the related curriculum link.

The Level 1 literacy page is here. Did you find this resource (mind maps)? The curriculum link is Ww/L1.1.

DOC

Two great mindmaps for visual / picture thinkers. One shows you how to mindmap, the other summarises spelling strategies. Contributed by Nikki Brown, additional support tutor from Cornwall College, St Austell nikki.brown@st-austell.ac.uk. Thank you Nikki. 3 pages. 80K.

M. Can you find an interactive scheme of work for Entry Level 1 literacy? What did my class do in week 3?

The scheme of work is here - in week 3 we had a college hunt for signs and symbols.

N. What did I use Sherbet Lemons for?

I used them in a multi-sensory lesson about adjectives.
